Manchester City big money signing allowed to leave for nothing

Manchester City will allow Eliaquim Mangala to leave the club for nothing this summer, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Mangala has spent the last five years at City after his blockbuster £42m move from Porto during Manuel Pellegrini’s time at the club.

It became quickly apparent Mangala was nowhere near the standard required to play for City, let alone come close to repaying his huge transfer fee.

The 28-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at City for a number of seasons but the Premier League champions have failed to offload him on a permanent basis in that time.

Mangala has endured two failed loan stints at Valencia and Everton in recent years and has been told he will not be included in Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season.

City will start their pre-season tour in China this week and Mangala has been left at home to find a new club.

It has even got to the point where City will waiver any transfer fee and allow Mangala to leave on a free just to offload his wages.

Mangala’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season after penning a 12-month extension with City at the start of March.

The French centre-back last made a Premier League appearance for City in December 2017 and has been left out of the matchday squad for the last 39 league matches.
