Bayern Munich plot shock move for Arsenal regular

Bayern Munich have earmarked Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno as a surprise potential replacement for Manuel Neuer, claims The Sun.

Neuer was once considered the best goalkeeper in the world but looks a shadow of his former self as a number of long-term injuries appear to have taken their toll.

The 33-year-old's current Bayern deal is not due to expire until the end of next season but the Bundesliga champions have their eye on his long-term successor.

Bayern's hierarchy has surprisingly identified Arsenal No.1 Leno as a potential replacement for Neuer despite his underwhelming displays in the Premier League.

The Gunners paid £22.5m to sign Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2018 but there have been question marks about his suitability ever since.

In fact, Arsenal have conceded more goals (68) than Crystal Palace (67) and Newcastle (66) since the beginning of last season.

Furthermore, in that time Leno has also committed the most errors leading to an opposition goal in the Premier League (6).
