Newcastle sign free agent Ryan Fraser

Newcastle have confirmed the arrival of former Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser on a free transfer.

Fraser, who completed his Newcastle medical on Monday, has put pen to paper on an five-year deal running until the summer of 2025.

The Scotland international has been a free agent since July after his Bournemouth contract expired.

Fraser was hoping to secure a free transfer move to a club like Tottenham, but his reputation has dipped significantly over the last 12 months.

Crystal Palace and West Ham were also interested in signing 26-year-old, but Newcastle have won the race after Steve Bruce's intervention on Friday.

The Newcastle head coach had a face-to-face meeting with Fraser at the end of last week to discuss his plans for the upcoming season.

Having also signed Callum Wilson from Bournemouth this week, Bruce is planning to get both players back to their best at St. James' Park.

Wilson and Fraser directly combined for 12 goals during the 2018/29 Premier League campaign, representing the best partnership in the division.
