Bournemouth have made a late attempt to hijack Watford’s deal to sign Roma forward Juan Iturbe, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Iturbe, 22, was in London yesterday to complete his medical and finalise terms with Watford, but the deal is now in doubt following late interest from Bournemouth.
Eddie Howe’s men have reportedly tabled a €22m (£16.2m), which is more money than the €19.5m (£14.3m) Watford were prepared to pay, and would enable Roma to almost recoup the £18m they spent on signing Iturbe from Verona.
According to Di Marzio’s website, Watford have no intentions of getting involved in a bidding war, but it is still unclear whether Iturbe would forego the opportunity to join Watford for Bournemouth.
The Argentine forward has only started three league games in Serie A this season and has one goal to his name.
