Premier League debutants leading way for Chelsea striker
Premier League debutants Brighton are hoping to beat Newcastle to the signing of Tammy Abraham after they were given permission to speak to the Chelsea youngster, reports the Telegraph.
Abraham enjoyed a prolific Championship campaign for Bristol City, where he netted 23 league goals, a return bettered only by Leeds star Chris Wood (27).
His stock has risen considerably after such a stunning season for the west country outfit and interest in his signature is high.
Chelsea are not prepared to sanction the permanent sale of the 19-year-old, but are willing to allow him another loan spell in order to gain regular first team action.
The Blues will first tie the teenage striker to a new deal at Stamford Bridge before loaning him out, with Brighton leading the race to land Abraham, though Newcastle are also in the running for his signature.
Brighton are also interested in signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer, also on loan, according to the Telegraph, with the Seagulls looking to strengthen early in the transfer window having recently signed Pascal Groß from FC Ingolstadt.
