Medical arranged for Newcastle’s club-record signing

Hoffenheim striker Joelinton has arrived in England ahead of his club-record move to Newcastle, claims Sky Sports.

Newcastle have reportedly agreed a fee in the region of £30m with Hoffenheim for the Brazilian striker.

The Magpies made Miguel Almiron the most expensive player in the club’s history in January when they paid £21m for the Atlanta United creator.

Newcastle are remarkably on the verge of breaking their club-transfer record for the second time in six months having gone nearly 14 years without making a record buy.

Newcastle have a lot of ground to make up on their Premier League rivals in the last few weeks of the transfer window after replacing Rafa Benitez with Steve Bruce.

Not only that, but Newcastle also sold Ayoze Perez to Leicester for £30m and opted against making Salomon Rondon’s move permanent after a thoroughly impressive debut campaign at the club last term.

Joelinton has spent the last four years with Hoffenheim but only returned to the German club last summer following a two-year loan stint with Austrian outfit Rapid Wien.

The 22-year-old played a direct hand in 12 goals in 28 league appearances for Hoffenheim last season and gained a WhoScored rating of 7.21 in that period.
