Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will stay at Borussia Dortmund next season after the deadline passed for clubs to sign him, reports German outlet Kicker.
Dortmund were willing to listen to offers for the Gabon international this summer but have now closed the book on his exit and will plan for next season with Aubameyang a key part of their thoughts.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a £65m move for the 28-year-old in the wake of Romelu Lukaku’s shock move to Manchester United, but they were they warned they only had a few days to strike a deal by Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.
AC Milan have also been in talks with the German giants but will now have to move on to alternative targets after the deadline passed, meaning Aubameyang will stay with the Bundesliga outfit for next season.
Only Lionel Messi (37) and Edinson Cavani (35) scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues last season than Aubameyang (31). However, only three players missed more clear-cut chances (25).
