Inter have rejected two bids from Chelsea for Lukaku

Chelsea have had two offers rejected for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, claims The Athletic.

Lukaku, who left Chelsea in 2014, has emerged as a top transfer target for Thomas Tuchel as he desperately looks to sign a striker before the window closes at the end of the month.

Chelsea have reluctantly accepted defeat in pursuit of Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and know Tottenham's Harry Kane is off limits.

Inter have made it clear they have no desire to sell Lukaku this summer and the Belgium international has confirmed he is happy in Italy.

However, Chelsea haven't given up hope of signing their former striker and it has now emerged they have made two bids already.

Chelsea are aware Inter are strapped for cash this summer despite the big money sale of Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.

Lautaro Martinez could leave Inter amid interest from Arsenal but Chelsea hope they can convince the Serie A champions to part ways with Lukaku instead.

Lukaku developed into one of the best No.9s in the world under Antonio Conte but he left Inter at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old impressively managed a direct hand in 35 goals in 36 league appearances last season and was one of only two players in Serie A to register double figures for both goals and assists.
