Roma have announced Cengiz Under has signed a new four-year deal to end any speculation about his future at the club.
Under’s previous deal was not due to expire until the summer of 2022 but the 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Galatasaray.
The Turkey international has struggled for consistency at Roma since joining the Serie A giants two years ago.
With Roma on the market for a new forward and Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez mooted as a possible target, it appeared likely Under would have to leave for regular playing time this season.
However, Roma have now confirmed a new long-term deal for the winger less than 24 hours after announcing Nicolo Zaniolo’s new contract.
“I arrived in Rome two years ago and since then, day after day, I’ve felt more in love with this city, this club and these fans,” Under told the club’s official website.
“This is a very happy moment for me. I want to thank the club for allowing me to realise my wish to continue playing for Roma.”
Under scored seven league goals in 26 league appearances in his first year at Roma but netted just three times in as many Serie A outings last term.
