Salah starts but Aguero on bench for City in crucial Liverpool showdown

Pep Guardiola has named an experimental and attacking line-up as Manchester City look to complete a huge turnaround from their 3-0 first leg defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The big news is that the Spaniard has left Sergio Aguero on the bench despite handing the Argentine some minutes from the bench in the Manchester derby at the weekend.

Elsewhere Ilkay Gundogan drops to the bench along with captain Vincent Company, who celebrates his 32nd birthday today and will be bitterly disappointed not to start.

Kevin De Bruyne returns as expected, while Aymeric Laporte is a shock inclusion in the XI after his struggles in the reverse fixture, most likely on the left of a back three including Kyle Walker.

The big news that all Liverpool fans were hoping for is that Mohamed Salah is fit to start, with just the one change from the first leg, and an expected one at that.

Georginio Wijnaldum steps in for the suspended Jordan Henderson, with Emre Can still sidelined through injury, while the likes of Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino should be fresh having been rested for the Merseyside derby.
