Everton make first signing of the summer

Everton have announced they have agreed a three-year deal with Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.

The 30-year-old’s current Huddersfield deal expires at the end of next month and he will then join Everton.

Marco Silva’s side have moved to secure Lossl’s services to provide competition with first choice goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Lossl’s arrival would suggest Maarten Stekelenburg’s time at Everton is coming to an end.

The former Netherlands international has 12 months left to run on his current Everton deal but now faces the prospect of being the club’s third choice goalkeeper.

Lossl has spent the last two years at Huddersfield, though the Terriers only made his stay permanent last summer.

He helped Huddersfield beat the drop in his first season at the club but lost his way this term and struggled to keep his place in goal.

Of goalkeepers that made at least 10 Premier League appearances this season, only Asmir Begovic (55.6%) had a worse save success rate than Lossl (60.3%).
