Leicester are monitoring Angers midfielder Baptiste Santamaria, a player dubbed the next N'Golo Kante, as the Foxes weigh up a summer move for the Frenchman, reports The Metro.
Leicester struck gold when they plucked Kante from Ligue 1 outfit Caen in 2015 as the Frenchman played a vital role in their shock title success before securing a big money switch to Chelsea a year later.
Wilfred Ndidi was signed to help ease Kante's departure and has been a revelation in the middle of the park for Brendan Rodgers' side this season.
However, the Leicester boss is eyeing up Santamaria as he looks to add competition to his squad in a key area of the pitch.
Leicester struggled during Ndidi's absence earlier in the season and with a Champions League spot attainable, Rodgers is looking to strengthen in midfield.
The 25-year-old came close to a move to Aston Villa last summer, but the deal fell through, and Santamaria has been an impressive performer in the Angers engine room this season.
Only Eduardo Camavinga (105) has made more tackles than Santamaria (91) in Ligue 1 in 2019/20 and his good form has clearly not gone unnoticed.
