Giroud's agents rubbish talk of January exit

Olivier Giroud's representatives have dismissed suggestions the striker will look to force a move away from Arsenal in January after dropping down the pecking order this season.

Giroud, 30, has divided opinion among Arsenal fans since joining from French side Montpellier but appears to have finally lost his place in the team with Arsene Wenger deploying Alexis Sanchez through the middle with great success.

The France international hasn’t even started a Premier League game this season and has been forced to make do with just seven appearances from the bench, which has prompted questions about his future at the club.

Giroud wouldn’t be short of suitors in the January transfer window but his representatives have dismissed suggestions he could leave the Emirates before the end of the season.

“I have never entered into contact with Italian clubs,” they told Foot Mercato, via Get French Football. “The same goes for China. Olivier feels very good at Arsenal. He will see out the season here. Nothing is possible in January for Olivier. He has no intention of leaving in the winter transfer window. “

No player has scored more goals as a substitute in the Premier League this season than Giroud (3), while the Frenchman has also scored the most headed goals in the last five campaigns (21).
