Chelsea look set to make a fresh move for Everton defender John Stones in January, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Blues were left frustrated in their efforts to coax the centre-back away from Goodison Park over the summer, seeing four bids rejected for the youngster.
As such, Chelsea were forced to turn their attention to Papy Djilobodji, who signed from French signed Nantes.
The Senegal international, however, has registered just one minute of competitive action since move to London, that coming in the Capital One Cup against Walsall and he could be loaned out in the New Year, freeing up space for another centre-back at Stamford Bridge.
The defending champions are not willing to rest on their laurels and will supposedly launch another assault to secure the services of Stones when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Should the Blues fail to convince Everton to cash in on Stones, the club could again move for PSG’s Marquinhos, another defender Chelsea were unable to sign over the summer.
The Brazil international is currently third choice centre-back for the French champions, with compatriots Thiago Silva and David Luiz ahead of the youngster in the pecking order for Laurent Blanc’s side.
