Arsenal offer Alexis monster contract to stay

Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez a new contract worth £270,000-a-week to convince him to stay, reports the Daily Mail.

The Gunners are desperate to extend Alexis’ current contract, which runs until 2018, but have been disappointed in their attempts to extend his deal.

The Chilean has routinely expressed his unhappiness at the club, with a lack of Champions League football next season expected to determine his future at the Emirates.

Manchester City have been monitoring his situation, while Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also remain interested in Alexis, who was the only player to register doubles figures for both goals (24) and assists (10) in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal are now hoping that a £270,000-a-week offer might sway his possible decision to leave the club in the summer.

Alexis, though, is believed to be demanding £300,000-a-week to stay, though Arsenal’s latest offer contains a number of incentives and bonuses to take the basic wage closer to what the striker wants.

Further talks are planned between the two parties after Saturday’s FA Cup final, where Arsenal face Chelsea at Wembley.
