Monaco offer Real Madrid target enormous new contract
Monaco have offered Kylian Mbappe a new contract that represents a stunning 900% increase on his existing deal in a bid to fend off competition from Real Madrid, reports Journal du Dimanche.
Mbappe has emerged as a top transfer target for Madrid this summer as Zinedine Zidane’s side try to secure the services of one of the most exciting talents in world football.
The France international has reportedly been offered assurances that one of Madrid’s ‘BBC’ will be sold this summer to accommodate him in the team but Monaco are determined to keep hold of their star asset for at least one more season.
Mbappe’s current €18,000-a-week deal is due to expire in 2019 and Monaco, who have reportedly already turned down three offers in excess of €100m for the 18-year-old this summer, are now willing to align his salary on par with Radamel Falco, who is currently the best paid player at the club on €162,000-a-week.
It remains to be seen whether Mbappe will commit his future to Monaco having previously insisted he would take a decision on his future where he would have the best chance of regular playing time, while Arsenal are also monitoring his future having been heavily linked earlier this month.
Mbappe scored 15 Ligue 1 goals in his breakthrough campaign for Monaco last season, despite only really establishing himself as a first-team regular in October.
Not only that, but the teenager also excelled during the knockout phase of the Champions League, where only Cristiano Ronaldo (10) scored more goals than Mbappe (6).
