Tottenham close in on Leeds teenager

Tottenham are on the verge of signing Leeds United teenager Jack Clarke in a deal worth £8.5m, claims The Sun.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side haven’t signed any players since January 2018 but are planning for a huge summer spending spree.

Tottenham have already been heavily linked with a move for midfield duo Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso and are now closing in on long-term target Clarke.

The 18-year-old enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign for Leeds last season and has previously been linked with a move to Manchester City.

Leeds need to balance their books in order to comply with Financial Fair Play but hope to receive Clarke on loan next season.

Pochettino is keen for Clarke to get regular playing time next term in order for his development to continue and is aware that could be hard at Tottenham.

Clarke made 24 league appearances for Leeds last season, though only four of those were starts. In that time, he played a direct hand in four goals (two assists, two goals).
