According to the Sunday Express Chelsea are willing to pay £50m for Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani in a bid to solve their striker problems.
The Uruguayan will turn 32 next month but the Blues are seemingly undeterred by the forward’s age given his goalscoring calibre.
Cavani already has 10 league goals in just 11 appearances this season and last season became the French champions’ top scorer of all time, breaking Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s record.
The South American really made a name for himself at Maurizio Sarri’s former club Napoli - although he left before the Chelsea boss’ reign - scoring 78 league goals in just three seasons at the club.
His last two seasons in Paris have been equally prolific, scoring 63 goals in just 68 Ligue 1 appearances and that strike rate has shown no signs of abating.
Chelsea have been on the lookout for a new striker since the summer, with neither Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud doing enough to convince Sarri that they are the right man to lead the line.
