Sterling puts Manchester City contract talks on hold

Raheem Sterling has put contract talks with Manchester City on hold until after the 2018 World Cup, reports The Daily Mirror.

The 22-year-old has been in sensational form for City this season and Pep Guardiola’s side want to reward him with new terms to reflect his growing importance.

Sterling’s current £180,000-a-week deal is not due to expire until 2020 and the City No.7 is in no rush to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

The England international has no interest in leaving the Etihad but wants to focus on winning the title with City and England’s World Cup campaign before renewing.

Sterling is enjoying his best ever goalscoring campaign (13 goals in 20 appearances) and there is still more than half of the season remaining.

In fact, only Mohamed Salah (12) and Harry Kane (10) have scored more Premier League goals than Sterling (9) this season.
