QPR interested in Brentford captain

Queens Park Rangers are looking to secure the services of Brentford skipper Jake Bidwell, according to The Daily Mirror.

Bidwell, 23, has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal at Griffin Park and is yet to signal his intentions to commit to the Bees, which could force Dean Smith’s side to sell in the summer.

The former Everton full-back has made more than 200 appearances for Brentford since joining in 2011 and was made captain at the start of last season.

QPR are often one of the busier clubs in the transfer market and would need to match Brentford’s £3m valuation of the left-back in order to acquire his services, which Everton would be entitled to a 50 per cent sell-on fee.

Of defenders to have featured in the Championship this season, only Aden Flint and Luke Chambers (both 8) have played a direct hand in more league goals than Bidwell (7).
