Borussia Dortmund interested in Manchester City striker

Borussia Dortmund have emerged as surprise suitors for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, reports The Daily Mail.

Iheanacho has fallen completely out of favour under Pep Guardiola this season after previously impressing when given the chance under Manuel Pellegrini.

The arrival of Gabriel Jesus in January has only further limited Iheanacho’s progress and Guardiola is willing to sell the Nigeria international at the end of the season for a fee in the region of £20m.

Southampton and Hoffenheim are understood to have made enquires about taking the 20-year-old on loan but City are only interested in permanent deals as the Premier League outfit prepare themselves for a summer of huge change at the club.

While there will be Premier League interest in Iheanacho, Dortmund can offer Champions League football and the Nigerian would have the chance to partner up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if Dortmund can keep hold of their main man.

Despite being mainly used as a substitute, Iheanacho has a fantastic goal return for the club, scoring 12 times in the league since the start of last season despite only making 12 starts in that time.

In fact, of players that have scored at least five Premier League goals since the start of last season only Jesus (1 every 94 minutes) requires fewer minutes per goal than Iheanacho (every 104.9 minutes).
