Tottenham to return for midfield target

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is eager to see the club make a move for Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, reports Goal.com. 

Spurs have previously been linked with a move for the Central African Republic captain, but have routinely been priced out of a move for the Valencia ace. 

Los Che would likely command a high fee for the 27-year-old, who has started 14 LaLiga games this season. 

Mourinho is looking to bolster his midfield, while Spurs scout Steve Hitchen is thought to be a huge admirer of Kondogbia. 

Valencia paid Inter £20m to make his loan move permanent in 2018 and stand to make a substantial profit on the player, who has returned a WhoScored rating of 6.76 in LaLiga this season, if they do decide to sell. 

Spurs are short of midfield options at present with Eric Dier now electing to focus his development as a centre-back. 

Meanwhile, big money summer arrival Tanguy Ndombele recently came under scathing criticism from Mourinho, which has added pressure to bolster the midfield as and when possible.
