Wolves agree shock £18m deal for Porto starlet

Wolves are on course to shatter their club-transfer record after agreeing an £18m deal with Porto for highly rated central midfielder Ruben Neves, reports The Daily Mail.

Neves, 20, has previously been linked with a number of big clubs around Europe but his stock has fallen significantly over the last 12 months and Porto need to cash in due to financial pressures.

The Portuguese giants have already sold Andre Silva to AC Milan this summer in a £33.6m deal and Championship side Wolves have now agreed a stunning £18m transfer with Sergio Conceicao’s side.

Wolves broke their club-transfer record when they made Helder Costa’s switch from Benfica permanent for £13m in January and now Nuno Santos’ side will shatter that fee for the second time this year.

Neves, who made Champions League history in October 2015 when he captained Porto at the age of 18, is managed by Jorge Mendes, and the super agent also works as an adviser for Wolves.

The Portugal international only made 13 league appearances in the league last season under former Porto manager Nuno, but is now set to reunite with the 43-year-old, who was made Wolves manager in May.
