Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of Chelsea centre-back David Luiz on a two-year deal running until the summer of 2021.
The Gunners have completed a shock deal for the Brazil international after agreeing an £8m fee with Chelsea on the penultimate day of the summer transfer window for English clubs.
Luiz only signed a new two-year deal with Chelsea in May but Frank Lampard’s side have decided to cash in on the troublesome defender.
It is understood the 33-year-old had become a disruptive influence at Chelsea during his last week at the club and even trained away from the first-team squad on Wednesday.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery previously worked with Luiz during their respective stints at Paris Saint-Germain and will hope the experienced centre-back can improve their defensive resolve.
Despite being a defender, only Jorginho (13) completed more accurate through balls than Luiz (12) in the Premier League last season.
