Hoffenheim manager extends contract

Hoffenheim have announced head coach Julian Nagelsmann has agreed to a new four-year deal keeping him at the club until 2021.

Nagelsmann was promoted from within to become Hoffenheim head coach in February 2016 where he became the youngest ever manager in the Bundesliga in the process at the age of 28.

Hoffenheim were the surprise package of the 2016/17 campaign and even secured their place in next season’s Champions League for the first time in their history, prompting suggestions than Nagelsmann will replace Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich in the future.

Nagelsmann, who was voted German Coach of the Year in March, was briefly linked with a move to become Borussia Dortmund head coach after they sacked Thomas Tuchel at the end of last month before they eventually appointed Ajax’s Peter Bosz.

However, the highly rated German manager has now committed his long-term future to Hoffenheim as they gear up for European football next season. Only Bayern (2) lost fewer games in the Bundesliga last season than Hoffenheim (4).
