Juventus interested in shock move for Roma star

Juventus are interested in making a hugely controversial move for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, reports Tuttosport, via Football Italia.

The Serie A giants are keen to sign a new box-to-box midfielder this summer and appear to have accepted defeat in their pursuit of Liverpool ace Emre Can.

Juventus have now turned their attentions to their league rivals and are reportedly prepared to test Monchi’s resolve with a €25m (£22.7m) bid for the Dutchman.

Max Allegri’s side poached Miralem Pjanic from Roma 12 months ago but Strootman doesn’t have the same desire to make the controversial switch and any transfer seems incredibly unlikely.

Strootman has a €45m (£40.8m) release clause in his existing contract but that was reportedly only active until August 1.

The 27-year-old has endured a hugely injury-hit career but appeared to put all his concerns behind him last season to feature 33 times in Serie A. In fact, no player in Europe’s top five leagues provided more assists as a result of a through ball than the Dutchman (4).
