Real Madrid and Liverpool receive boost in race for Napoli star

 

Napoli are prepared to lower their asking price for in-demand midfielder Fabian Ruiz, which will be a boost for interested parties Real Madrid and Napoli, reports The Daily Mail. 

 

Ruiz is looking to leave the Serie A side in the summer and his availability is likely to trigger a mad scramble for his signature. 

 

Despite Napoli's indifferent form in Italy this season, Ruiz still has his admirers across the continent and while the Naples outfit are keen to recoup as much money as possible from his sale, they have supposedly dropped his asking price to around £52m. 

 

The decision to drop that fee will appeal to Real Madrid and Liverpool, who have both been tracking Ruiz for months now. 

 

24-year-old Ruiz has impressed in Italy following his Real Betis departure in 2018 and Real Madrid are eager to bring the midfielder back to Spain. 

 

However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to add another midfielder to his squad to improve the Reds' strength in depth.

Indeed, Liverpool have been linked with moves for Boubakary Soumare and Denis Zakaria in recent days, with Ruiz another being tracked by the European champions. 

 

Ruiz has scored two goals and registered two assists in Serie A this season, yielding a WhoScored rating of 7.06 in the process.
