Pochettino dismisses Dier exit talk

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has quashed speculation linking Eric Dier with a move away from the club.

Dier, 22, has struggled to reproduce the same level of performances as last season and has lost his place in the team to summer signing Victor Wanyama in recent matches as a result.

The –year-old is reportedly now worried he could lose his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad and would consider a move away from Tottenham despite only recently signing a new long-term deal.

Despite a downturn in form, the England international emerged as a surprise target for Bayern Munich earlier this week but Pochettino has ruled out any chance of the versatile midfielder leaving the club in the near future.

“I know there are a lot of rumours, but he’s 100% our player,” talkSPORT quote the Spurs manager as saying. “He’s very important for us. He signed a new contract after the Euros and showed his commitment to the club. There’s no doubt his future is at White Hart Lane.”

Pochettino dismisses Dier exit talk

Dier emerged as a key player under Pochettino last season as Tottenham came close to winning their first Premier League title before enjoying a successful Euro 2016 campaign despite England’s humiliating exit.

The versatile midfielder has gone from averaging 2.2 tackles per game last season to just 0.9 this time around.
