De Gea’s contract to Real Madrid leaked

The terms behind David de Gea’s failed move to Real Madrid have reportedly been leaked detailing the Manchester United goalkeeper would have been set to earn £66.7m over the six-years he agreed to, reports the Daily Telegraph.

De Gea, 24, came within seconds of completing his return to the Spanish capital on deadline day over the summer only for a broken fax machine preventing him from sealing his dream move to Madrid.

Now, the details of the proposed transfer have been revealed by Football Leaks, who are also behind leaking the contracts of Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Mesut Ozil in recent weeks.

According to the report, De Gea would have been set to earn €11.8m-a-year (£9.1m) – plus incentives until June 2021.

The Spain international would have also pocketed a one-off signing-on-fee of €10.9m (£8.4m) and an additional monthly salary of €6,000 a month.

De Gea’s contract to Real Madrid leaked

De Gea was left out of the United side in the first few weeks of the season before signing a new long-term deal to put an end to the speculation linking him with Madrid, although it has been widely reported a buy-out clause was put into his new deal to ensure he could later move to Madrid.

Since the start of last season, only two goalkeepers have kept more clean sheets than De Gea in the Premier League (19).
