Leicester target close to agreeing new bumper deal

Leicester City target Troy Deeney is on the verge of agreeing a new £50,000-a-week deal with Watford, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Claudio Ranieri’s side have had two bids rejected for the Watford skipper as high as £25m as the Premier League champions seek to bolster their offensive options.

However, Watford have been adamant the 27-year-old is not for sale and are prepared to double his salary in order to secure the best years of his playing career.

Deeney scored at least five more goals than any other Watford player in the Premier League (7) in 2016 and finished as the fourth highest English goalscorer last season (13).
