Atletico Madrid are set to return with an improved offer for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, reports Diario AS.
Diego Simeone’s side are on the hunt for a new central midfielder this summer, with Gallagher in pole position on a shortlist that also includes reported Arsenal target Mikel Merino.
Tuesday’s report from Spain suggests that Chelsea are standing firm on their €40 million valuation of Gallagher, with Atleti already seeing an initial €20 million offer rejected.
Gallagher was a main-stay for the Blues in the Premier League last season, making 37 appearances, scoring five goals and providing seven assists under Mauricio Pochettino.
The 24-year-old, who made five appearances for England at Euro 2024, has also been linked with Premier League sides Tottenham and Aston Villa in recent weeks.
With just a year remaining on Gallagher’s contract at Stamford Bridge, Atletico Madrid may well feel that Chelsea will come down on their valuation sooner than later.
