‘I will see out my contract’ – Toure

Yaya Touré says he will see out the rest of his contract at Manchester City, having looked almost certain to leave the club last season.

Touré, 32, grew unsettled last summer after feeling undervalued by the Premier League outfit and appeared on the way out following comments by his agent Dimitri Seluk claiming the Ivorian was ‘90 per cent certain’ to quit the club.

However, the former Barcelona midfielder insists he will see out the remaining two years of his contract.

“There was too much speculation about me leaving – it’s clear that I have my contract at City and I want to see out my contract,” he is quoted as saying in the Manchester Evening News.

“I am happy to stay at the club. I want to get to the end of my contract.”

The Ivory Coast international will arguably be considered one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League’s history when he eventually calls time on his career in England. At times, the 32-year-old has been an unstoppable force driving from midfield and has been an integral part of City’s recent success.

In fact, no midfielder in the Premier League has scored more goals than Touré (51) since he joined City in 2010 and only three City teammates have averaged a higher WhoScored rating than Ivorian (7.34) in England’s top-flight in that period.
