Chelsea pressure Arsenal with Sanchez interest

Chelsea will look to take advantage over Alexis Sanchez’s contractual issues at Arsenal with an audacious swoop for the Premier League star next summer, reports The Daily Mirror.

Sanchez, 27, has been locked in contract talks with Arsenal all season but the Gunners have been so far unwilling to increase his current £130,000-a-week wages to the £200,000-a-week wage demands.

The Chile international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best players since joining Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014, but with less than two years remaining on his existing deal Arsenal will need to make a tough decision on his future at the club at the end of the season if they have still failed to agree terms.

Negotiations have been made more difficult by the fact Sanchez is using a staggering £400,000-a-week offer from China to pressure Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger’s side also in a fight to tie down Mesut Ozil, their other star man.

Chelsea are among a number of elite clubs in Europe that are monitoring talks and the Premier League leaders are willing to step up their interest next summer as Antonio Conte looks to build a formidable front free of Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Sanchez.

No player has scored more goals than Sanchez in the Premier League this season (11 - tied with Costa), while the Arsenal No.7 is also the second highest rated player in the league (7.98), only behind Hazard (7.99).
