Silva too expensive for European giant, claims agent

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva is too expensive for Serie A side AC Milan, according to the player’s agent.

Silva, 30, joined the Parisian outfit from AC Milan for £35.4m as the most expensive defender in the world in 2012 and is open to returning to the San Siro in the future.

"One day Thiago could return to Fluminense as well as Milan, and he would like to, but at the moment there is not the slightest chance that he could change club," Silva’s agent Paulo Tonietto told MilanNews.it.

"At the moment he costs too much, he has a contract until 2018 and a very high salary.

"Milan couldn’t pay him because they have a policy about their wages.

"Thiago Silva is doing very well at PSG and there’s no chance of him changing clubs, he’s too expensive for Milan."

The Brazil international is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world and would be a major coup for Milan. Since arriving in France’s top-flight in 2012, only two players that have made more than 50 appearances have a better pass completion than Silva (91.4%).
