West Ham plot ambitious move for Manchester City midfielder
Yaya Toure is among a number of high profile targets at West Ham this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The 33-year-old has not signed an extension on his contract that expires in the summer and has said he would only do so with the guarantee of regular first team action. With Pep Guardiola planning a busy summer of rebuilding at The Etihad, the midfielder may well be allowed to leave on a free.
If so then West Ham certainly won’t be the only club interested in the Ivorian’s services, though the Londoners are aiming high this summer, looking to recruit a few major signings rather than a host of cheaper additions.
Toure would, after all, demand high wages that would but certainly make him West Ham’s highest earner, so a move for the former Barcelona man is not being taken lightly.
His time at City had appeared to be up long before now but injuries saw Toure given a second chance under Pep Guardiola and he has gone on to start 19 league matches this season to date. An average of 70.3 passes per game is the most at the club and enough to rank fifth in the entire Premier League.
