Tottenham remain hopeful that Christian Eriksen will snub a summer move to Real Madrid and pen a new long-term deal with the club, claims GOAL.
Eriksen’s current contract is due to expire at the end of next season and this summer represents the last opportunity for Tottenham to command a sizeable fee if the Dane pushes to leave.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has reportedly earmarked Eriksen as a top transfer target this summer and the Denmark international is also on Manchester United’s radar.
It has previously been reported that Eriksen would not renew his contract with Tottenham but Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now growing increasingly confident of making a breakthrough in talks.
Tottenham are reportedly willing to at least double his current £75,000-a-week deal, though the 27-year-old would still be able to command more than that elsewhere.
Eriksen has developed into one of the Premier League’s best midfielders since completing a move to Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013 for just £11.5m.
In fact, in that time Eriksen has supplied at least eight more assists than any other player in the Premier League (60).
