Tammy Abraham has arrived in Italy ahead of his transfer from Chelsea to Roma for an initial outlay of €40m, reports Fabrizio Romano for The Guardian.
Abraham's future at Stamford Bridge has been up in the air since Thomas Tuchel took over the Chelsea reins back in January as he failed to convince the German he deserved a more prominent role in the squad.
The big money arrival of Romelu Lukaku last week further plunged his future in west London into doubt, even after the departure of Olivier Giroud for AC Milan.
Arsenal and Aston Villa were keen on landing the England international, but it's Roma who have won the race to sign Abraham, who netted six league goals for Chelsea last season, a return bettered only by midfielder Jorginho (7).
However, Chelsea have inserted an €80m buyback clause into the deal, which becomes active in June 2023, should they wish to bring Abraham back to Stamford Bride.
The 23-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract with the Rome powerhouse and he will replace the experienced Edin Dzeko, who departed for Inter last week.
