Kalou wants new Hertha deal

Salomon Kalou has revealed he wants to extend his stay with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin beyond the end of the season before finishing his career with Feyenoord.

The 31-year-old has spent the last two years with Hertha after joining from Lille in 2014 and has been a hit for the majority of his time in Germany.

However, Kalou’s existing deal is due to expire at the end of the current season and no talks have taken place over a renewal, although the former Chelsea winger is determined to stay with Pal Dardai’s side.

“I think I will sign a new contract with Hertha in January,” Kalou told DW Sports. “My contract finishes next year but I’m really not thinking about contracts, I’m thinking about enjoying my football and playing well.”

Kalou missed the start of the season after Hertha allowed the Ivory Coast international to return to Africa following the loss of two family members in August, but has returned to the first-team in recent weeks.

While the aging winger is determined to remain at Hertha for now, he has also revealed he is looking to finish his career with Feyenoord, the club where he started his professional career 13 years ago.

“I think I have many years left as a player, but I dream of ending my career with Feyenoord. It is a club close to my heart and where everything started for me. A lot of people in Feyenoord helped me because the person and the player I am, so if I can end up playing there again before the end of my career then I’ll be happy.”
