Everton hold talks to sign Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez

Everton are in talks with Real Madrid to sign James Rodriguez on a permanent deal this summer, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Rodriguez has no future at Madrid and the LaLiga champions are deserpate to offload the Colombia international on a full-time basis.

Carlo Ancelotti has twice worked with Rodriguez during his time as Madrid and Bayern Munich head coach and is now seeking a third reunion.

Everton missed out on top midfield target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham but signing Rodriguez would comfortably be the club's biggest transfer of all-time.

Rodriguez has entered the final 12 months of his current Madrid contract and Zidane's side are desperate to get some sort of fee rather than let him leave for nothing next year.

The 29-year-old is keen on a move to Goodison Park to work under Ancelotti once again and will reportedly sign a three-year deal if the two clubs can agree a fee.

Since moving to Monaco in 2013, Rodriguez has had a direct hand in 106 goals in 162 games in Europe's top five leagues, averaging a goal or an assist every 102 minutes of playing time.
