Chelsea defender hints at Bundesliga return

Andreas Christensen has hinted he could move back to Bundesliga outfit Gladbach after returning to Chelsea following a two-year loan stint at the club.

The Denmark international emerged as a hugely impressive young centre-back during his time at Gladbach and the German giants were unsuccessful in making the switch permanent on more than one occasion during the last two years.

Christensen is now expected to be integrated into the Chelsea first-team under Antonio Conte but the 21-year-old has left the door open to a Gladbach return in his open letter to the club.

“The break is now almost over, and my time with @borussia has officially come to an end (for now anyway)," he wrote on an Instagram post dedicated to the German side.

“I wanna thank every one at the club for making my time there unforgettable, thank you to the fans for suporting the team trough thick and thin and a special thank you to my teammates for pushing me everyday.

“It’s been an honour playing with you. Hope to play with you again something, hopefully on the same side.”

Chelsea defender hints at Bundesliga return

It remains to be seen what role Christensen will have in the Chelsea first-team but the Premier League champions have high hopes for the young centre-back in the coming years.

In the last two Bundesliga campaigns only three central defenders have attempted more passes than Christensen (3800).
