Manchester United ace may have played last game for the club
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea may have already played his final game for the club after Jose Mourinho revealed he plans to play Sergio Romero and youngster Joel Pereira in goal for their final two league matches, reports The Daily Mail.
Real Madrid have re-kindled their interest in De Gea ahead of the summer and the Spain international is now set to sit out their final three games of the season after also being told Romero will continue between the sticks for their Europa League final against Ajax at the end of the month.
Mourinho is keen to hand Pereira, who he has tipped to be Portugal’s next No.1 goalkeeper, his first ever start for United after bringing him on as a substitute in their 4-0 win over Wigan in the FA Cup in January and the 20-year-old is expected to start in goal for their final home game of the season against Crystal Palace.
However, the United manager has now also confirmed that Romero will also play in one of the two remaining league matches to give him momentum heading into the Europa League final.
It leaves huge question marks over De Gea’s long-term future at the club despite the fact the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is reportedly not looking to force his way out of Old Trafford this season.
In the last three Premier League campaigns De Gea has kept at least three more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper (39).
