West Ham striker Arnautovic hands in transfer request

West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic has handed in his second transfer request in the space of six months, claims The Independent.

Arnautovic wanted to leave West Ham in January after receiving a lucrative offer from China.

The Hammers refused to sell Arnautovic at the start of the year, even turning down a £35m bid, before handing the Austria a bumper new £100,000-a-week deal.

Arnautovic is now subject to another offer from China and the 30-year-old has reiterated his desire to leave West Ham.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been heavily linked with a move for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, who would act as a natural replacement for Arnautovic.

However, Gomez appears more likely to stay in Spain and join Valencia, who can offer Champions League football, leaving West Ham with a problem on their hands.

Arnautovic has spent the last two seasons at West Ham after the east London outfit paid Stoke £25m in the summer of 2017.

He has reached double figures for goals in each of his league campaigns for West Ham, playing a direct hand in 32 goals in 59 Premier League appearances in that time.
