Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur will miss the remainder of the season with torn ankle ligament damage, according to the Scotland international.
McArthur, 28, has developed into a crucial cog in Palace’s midfield since Alan Pardew was made manager and his absence comes at an awful time for the Eagles given their current slump in form.
Palace have lost five straight matches in the Premier League and have slipped out of the top 10 as a result and will now have to get over the remainder of the season without one of their regular performers.
“Looks like season over for me with ankle ligaments tore. Just another challenge in my career to make sure I work hard and come back stronger,” McArthur posted on his official Twitter account.
Despite proving a dependable member of Pardew’s squad, no Palace player has been dribbled past more times than McArthur in the Premier League this season (45).
