The German national team have announced Miroslav Klose has retired from football in order to pursue a coaching career.
Klose, 38, has been a lethal finisher since making his professional debut in 1998 but has reserved his most important goals for international football.
The veteran striker, who was released by Lazio at the end of last season, will now enrol with the German national set-up in order to gain experience as a coach.

In World Cup football Klose will go down as a legend. In fact, only Lothar Matthaus (25), also of Germany, has made more appearances at World Cups than Klose (24), but his goal against Brazil in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup ensured he broke Ronaldo’s record for most goals ever in the competition (16).
