Tottenham boss upbeat about Kane’s chances of playing against Madrid
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful star striker Harry Kane will recover from injury in time to face Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Kane has missed Tottenham’s last two matches after suffering a minor hamstring strain at the end of their 4-1 win over Liverpool a little over a week ago.
Pochettino opted against risking the England international in Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday, but is hopeful he will be available for Wednesday’s huge clash.
“With the doctors and the player, we will take the best decision for everyone,” The Daily Mail quote Pochettino as saying. “We must analyse and take the best decision for everyone.
"We will assess him and then we will make the best decision. My feeling is good. But it’s not my feeling, it’s Harry Kane’s feeling.”
Tottenham are currently edging Group H on seven points after securing an impressive 1-1 draw away to Madrid last time out in the competition and a win here would practically seal their passage through to the next knockout stage.
However, Pochettino’s side come into this match on a two-match losing streak and Kane's absence in that time has conceringly contributed to their decline. His availability would be a huge boost for the home side, given he has scored five goals in three group matches and is the third highest rated player in the competition (8.74).
