Chelsea have received some welcome news after x-ray results returned showing Diego Costa had avoided serious injury to his foot on international duty with Spain.
Costa sustained the problem to his foot and ankle in training with the Spanish national team ahead of their clash with France on Tuesday raising fears the striker could face a long spell out on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old underwent a series of examinations at Sanitas Clinic in La Moraleja before being given the green light to remain with the Julen Lopetegui’s squad for the remainder of the international break.
Costa is unlikely to be risked against France on Tuesday night and Chelsea will hope the striker is fit enough to feature for them when the Premier League resumes this weekend when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Spain international has rediscovered his best form for Chelsea this season and his goalscoring ability has proven integral to their Premier League title challenge. In fact, only three players have scored more goals in England’s top flight this season than Costa (17).
