Manchester United target will cost more than €90m, says club director
Lazio director Igli Tare has revealed that any side interested in signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will have to spend in excess of €90m (£78.9m).
Milinkovic-Savic is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe and has already been linked with moves to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Jose Mourinho has made strengthening his midfield a top priority this summer in a bid to finally bring the best out of Paul Pogba next season.
The United boss is considering a number of midfield targets across Europe and Tare has sent a warning to their European rivals interested in signing Milinkovic-Savic.
“I don’t know how much he could be worth and I don’t even want to think about it,” Tare told Sportitalia.
"It’s certainly a figure well over €80-90million, in any case. Sergej is very important to us and has not yet reached his peak. There are always more players who can be found and developed.
“I want it to be clear, Lazio have never set a price-tag or asked anything from Milinkovic. We received offers more or less on that level last summer, but they were not taken into consideration.
“Right now there is interest, but nothing concrete. I’ve never spoken to Real Madrid about him, they never approached us.”
The 23-year-old is enjoying his best ever season as a professional and interest will be high in the summer, even more so if he enjoys a solid World Cup campaign.
In fact, Milinkovic-Savic has scored more league goals in 26 appearances this season (9) than his previous 59 games combined (5).
