FC Twente defender Jeroen van der Lely has revealed his dream is to play in the Premier League and move to Arsenal.
Van der Lely, 20, has burst into the Twente first-team this season after progressing through their academy and is expected to be the future of their backline.
The Dutchman has only made 29 first-team appearances for Twente since first making his debut for the club last season but already has one eye on the future and where he dreams of playing.
“If it was up to me, I would play for Arsenal,” he told Dutch newspaper VI, via Football Oranje. “The Premier League attracts me a lot and one club I have to mention is Arsenal.
“The club have intrigued me since my childhood and as a child I used to sit and watch whenever there were Arsenal games on TV, I especially enjoyed their football.
“Arsenal play the passing game and it is more stylish and sophisticated than the typical English game.”
Only Ajax defender Joel Veltman (4.1) is averaging more tackles per game in the Eredivisie this season than Van Der Lely (4).
