Pique teases move away from Barcelona

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has revealed he is interested at the possibility of playing in Major League Soccer.

Pique, 29, has always insisted his desire is to see out his playing career at his boyhood club.

The Spain international has been one of the best defenders in the world since the start of last season but it now appears he pondering life away from Barcelona, although at a club outside of Europe.

“I read that MLS is the league with the seventh-highest attendances, after the five big European leagues and another [league] in sixth,” Pique told La Liga sponsor Pelayo, via ESPN.

“The fans are becoming more hooked on football all the time in the United States. I don’t think I’d go to China, but the U.S., let’s see.

“I’ve always said I’d like to retire at Barca, but it would be an attractive option for a few years, as long as I have the appetite to continue playing football."
