Tottenham sign Matt Doherty from Wolves

Tottenham have confirmed the arrival of Wolves right-back Matt Doherty on a four-year deal running until the summer of 2024.

Doherty is Tottenham's third new signing this summer after completing his £16m move from Wolves.

Tottenham have reportedly agreed an initial £12m fee plus a further £4m in add-ons for the Ireland international.

Jose Mourinho made signing a new right-back a priority this summer after Tottenham failed to replace Kieran Trippier in the last two transfer windows.

With Kyle Walker-Peters sold permanently and talks taking place to offload Serge Aurier, Doherty's arrival solves a problem position for Mourinho.

The 28-year-old has been a superb performer for Wolves in the last two years, helping Nuno's side knock on the door for a top four place.

In fact, only Trent Alexander-Arnold (30) and Andrew Robertson (25) have played a direct hand in more Premier League goals than Doherty (16) of all defenders in the last two seasons.
